Learnto fish

Children’s fishing workshops

Every summer, the Lot fishing federation offers introductory fishing workshops for children in outstanding natural settings. Our instructors take the time to explain the basics of fishing, while raising children’s awareness of the importance of protecting nature. In Limargue or the Lot valley, in ponds or rivers, it’s time to learn how to be a real fisherman. In just a few hours, children discover the basic techniques for catching fish, and crayfish too! An original nature outing that’s already a big hit! Organized by the Office de Tourisme du Grand Figeac, Lacapelle-Marival office, in collaboration with the Fédération Départementale de Pêche and the AAPPMA de Lacapelle.

Fishing

and nature

Three enthusiastic animators from the Lot Fishing Federation offer a range of activities in the Grand-Figeac area, for groups of 15 children aged 7 to 12. The workshop begins with a theoretical approach, with the discovery of the fish species present in the fishing area, followed by a presentation of fishing equipment and an introduction to protecting nature and the environment. Then it’s time for practice, with the first corks in the water and the first fish wriggling. Different techniques are covered in each workshop, and all equipment is provided on loan. Of course, all fish are released at the end of the workshop, so No-Kill is a matter of course. So, are you tempted? To whet your appetite even more, and find out all about fishing in the Lot for kids, take a look at Kid Pêche!

Fishing

crayfish

Fishing for crayfish on the scales iseasy and fun, and requires very little equipment. The instructors from the Lot Fishing Federation will take you to some lovely streams where fishing is permitted and fruitful! A pole with a wooden fork, scales and a bucket are all you need to catch hundreds of crayfish! Do you know what we use as bait to attract them? Fresh sardines! You can fish for all three authorized species: American, Louisiana and California. The white-clawed crayfish and the slender-clawed crayfish, on the other hand, are protected. On your scales!
