Villages with houses

Wren

In the Célé Valley, two authentic villages await you in the heart of nature. Many options are available to you to explore this preserved territory, whether you are a sportsman, a biodiversity watcher, or a heritage enthusiast.

Between cliffs and river

Sauliac unveils itself

The numerous swallows and bats did not choose this place by chance; nesting on the cliffs of the Causses du Quercy represents an ideal refuge. This haven of peace, both for Men and animals, is a privileged place for a break from full nature.

At Sauliac-sur-Célé, start your day with a hike between Causses and river. Get some height and admire the valley from different viewpoints. These walks are also an opportunity to explore different eras, from the dolmen of the Pierre levée to the small pastoral heritage.

Cross the eras

in Sauliac-sur-Célé

On foot, by mountain bike or by canoe, our territory is rich and unique!

Two marked hikes allow you to discover the local heritage. The Combe-Nègre (13km) offers a stunning panorama of the valley, whileLe chemin de la pierre levée (4km) transports you to the ancient village of Sauliac, on the cliffside, overlooking the Château de Geniez.

For VTT buffs, the circuit of the “Roc-Traoucat” (rock with a hole in it in Occitan), leads you in particular to the écomusée de Cuzals. Open-air reconstruction of a typical hamlet of the nineteenth century, many animations and demonstrations of know-how are offered.

Relaxation and swimming

After this athletic adventure, heading down to the river is a no-brainer. A lovely wilderness beach awaits you, where you’ll find the coolness needed for a well-deserved swim in clear water. One of the most beautiful ways to discover the valley is to take to the water, on a canoe ride. Leisure bases allow you to travel the Célé in total immersion.

Finally, when night falls, take the time to contemplate the sky and its stars. In the heart of the “Black Triangle”, the celestial vault is one of the most preserved areas in mainland France, and offers you an extraordinary show. In summer, observation evenings are organized for the general public.

Sports and nature

In Saint-Sulpice

A quintessential vacation spot, Saint-Sulpice welcomes you to a bucolic setting. For swimming, you can choose between the intercommunal pool or the river, just off the camping “Le Célé” and the friendly “La Paillote” restaurant.

Exploring the surroundings, take a little height and go discover the pretty little village and the maisons Troglodytes clinging to the cliff. To admire an exceptional panorama, reach the Egyptian cross on the road overlooking the village.

For climbing enthusiasts, several equipped routes are to be climbed, to be found in the climbing topo-guide of the Lot.
