From the small port, walk along the water’s edge and take time to flâner along theprivate gardens. The path in the shade of the trees offers you an enchanted interlude, to the delight of children and adults alike.

Borrowed by walkers on their way to Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle, the Allée Rive d’Olt can be enjoyed both on foot and by bike.

A walk

unavoidable

Follow the path back past the Mariners’ Chapel, then walk along the river in the direction of the current. The 1500-meter walk will take you to the hydroelectric power plant, where you will see the medieval castle of Salvagnac-Cajarc on the other bank.

On your way back to the harbor, get some height by going on the suspended bridge dating from 1842 to admire the river and the houses of the suburb with the cliffs of the Causse in the background.

LE TRAIN DE CAJARC

Near the banks of the Lot is the old railroad line from Cajarc. The opening of the latter, from Cahors to Capdenac, marked the decline of the river trade that had been in full swing since the Middle Ages. The last regular railroad passed through this station in 1980 but it is preserved, as a Monuments Historiques, for the exceptional preservation of the buildings and its water supply system for the steam locomotives.
