France’s leading food company, Raynal et Roquelaure, is opening its doors to us.Let’s take a look at the amazing history of this company, which was founded in the buffet area of Capdenac station and has become a national leader in the manufacture and marketing of ready-made meals and vegetables in tins and trays.

As surprising as it may seem, the company was born thanks to the arrival of the railways. In 1866, Capdenac-Gare became a strategic location on the Toulouse – Paris line. At this time, Théophile Raynal ran the station buffet, a restaurant that was very popular with travellers.  He went into partnership with Ernest Roquelaure, a chef who had cut his teeth in Europe’s princely courts. In 1876, the two visionary partners founded Maison Raynal & Roquelaure. They came up with the brilliant idea of packaging the delicious dishes they prepared, including the golden casserole, the brand’s oldest product. The concept of the ready meal was born.

Today, the company markets more than 90 different ready-made dishes at several production sites. The company specialises in traditional dishes such as Auvergnate lentils, Toulouse sausages, duck cassoulet, knuckle of pork and Auvergnate salads. This company, with its strong identity rooted in the land, has been able to innovate, adapt and take advantage of new technologies to be today at the cutting edge of modernity; and to have obtained national and international certifications.

The “In the Footsteps of Raynal and Roquelaure tour, an atypical visit in two parts: the découverte of the urban centre of Capdenac-Gare, followed by the découverte of the company.

A UNIQUE VISIT

This one-of-a-kind tour is led by guides-conferees.

  • Pass the corridor of time to discover the company’s history from 1876 to the present day.
  • Approach the savoir-faire and  the secrets of the’élaboration of’a recipe à through a vidéo.
  • Cover the whole cycle of making a cooked dish thanks to a gallery overlooking the various workshops.
  • Let yourself be surprised by these sophisticated machines, by the volumes produced, an average of 45,000 boxes per production cycle, or two boxes per second during the setting process!

  • Thematic tour : meet in front of the station (no ticket office on site)

  • Réduit : 5 € children aged 10 à 16, étudiants, jobseekers and disabled people, free for under 10s
  • Groups: up to à 25 people, fixed price of 130 € for 1 guide; from 26 à 50 people: 250 € (2 guides).
