Over 140 years

gourmet stories

Surprising as it may seem, the company was born thanks to the arrival of the railways. In 1866, Capdenac-Garestation became a strategic point on the Toulouse – Paris line. At that time, Théophile Raynal ran the station buffet, a restaurant that was very popular with travellers, and he formed a partnership with Ernest Roquelaure, a chef who had worked his way up through the princely courts of Europe. In 1876, the two visionary partners founded Raynal & Roquelaure. They had the bright idea of packaging the delicious dishes they prepared, including the pâté doré, the brand’s oldest product. The concept of the canned ready meal was born.
