The Véloroute, also known as ” La Vallée du Lot à vélo “, is 430km long and links La Canourgue, in Lozère, to Aiguillon, in Lot-et-Garonne. It then connects to the Véloroute des deux mers. In the Lot department, it passes through the beautiful landscapes of the Causses du Quercy and the magnificent Lot valley. On the section in Grand-Figeac, you’ll have the chance to pass through Capdenac-Gare, Saint-Pierre-Toirac and Cajarc, before reaching Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, listed as one of France’s Most Beautiful Villages. On this part of the route, experience a moment of rejuvenation, with the freshness of the River Lot, the sun warming the majestic limestone cliffs and the breathtaking panoramas around every bend! Cycling enthusiasts, nature lovers and lovers of picturesque villages, this is the route for you!

Practical info

ACCESS

  • Capdenac-Gare and Cahors have good train services. However, at peak times, it can be difficult to transport bicycles on TER trains.
  • If you wish, you can hire a bike in Figeac or Cajarc.

GOOD DRIVING

  • Make sure your bike is in good condition before setting off.
  • For added safety, make sure you wear a helmet (compulsory for under-12s).
  • Wear light-coloured clothing to make yourself visible to motorists.
  • During the tourist season, be on the lookout for motorhomes and transport vehicles sharing the road with you.
