Close your eyes. Beneath your feet, the white rock of the Causses du Quercy makes every step feel firm, whilst the wind sweeps across the plateaus. A few kilometres further on, the air grows cooler: you plunge into a deep valley, at the heart of a forest where moss carpets the trees and the river water laps at the foot of the cliffs. That’s what running in the Grand Figeac is all about: a succession of contrasts, terrain and landscapes that awaken the senses with every stride.

Forging relief

the mind

Here, you’ll find a playground as playful as it is demanding. The Causses du Quercy and their stony, sometimes technical paths will have you running across vast plateaux lined with low dry-stone walls, caselles and dolmens. The Lot and Célévalleys are full of beautiful climbs and rapid descents, with breathtaking views to catch your eye. The Limargue plunges you into a verdant world of rolling hills and oak forests. The Ségala, on the other hand, has a mountainous feel to it, transporting you into a wilder atmosphere of lakes, streams and forests of chestnut, beech and fir. The diversity of the trails promises endless possibilities, whether you’re a beginner or an experttrail runner!

New for 2026

A trail to explore in Greater Figeac

Lace up your trainers!

Le Grand Figeac is gradually opening its new Trail Area: a life-size playground for beginner runners, regular exercisers and experienced trail runners.

On the programme: 20 marked trails, nearly 320 km of routes and 9 starting points to vary your outings according to your level, the time you have available and your preferences.

Starting from Cajarc, Marcilhac-sur-Célé, Larroque-Toirac and other local towns, the trails offer a unique way to explore the landscapes of the Grand Figeac: limestone plateaus, valleys, cliffs, forests, rivers and charming villages.

Trail running in the Grand Figeac region also means encountering heritage sites along the trails: dry stone walls, caselles, caves, castles, houses clinging to the rock face, or viewpoints overlooking the Lot and Célé valleys.

Before setting off, remember to visit the dedicated website to choose your route, download your itinerary and check whether it is open.
