In the heart of the Lot Ségala region, Latronquière is surrounded by chestnut, beech and fir forests, close to the Lac du Tolerme and the Roc de France wetlands. Nearby Labastide-du-Haut-Mont, the highest point in the département at 788 metres, offers superb panoramic views of the Monts du Cantal. A former crossing point between Quercy and Auvergne, the village has a long history as a commandery of the Order of St John of Jerusalem.
