The must-see medieval town

In Figeac, look up and admire! After crossing the Gambetta bridge over the Célé river, you enter the medieval town of Figeac. The town’s rich heritage is extremely well preserved. Walk to the Tourist Office, located in theHôtel de la Monnaie, and we’ll provide you with the ideal map to discover all the city’s treasures in less than 2 hours. You’ll be able to admire typical medieval houses, sumptuous churches, the Place des Écritures and its reproduction of the Rosetta Stone, the Place Champollion and its fascinatingmuseum… Finally, end your visit with a refreshing break on one of the many sunny terraces.

A monumental Renaissance château in the middle of the small village ofAssier! Galiot de Genouillac, grand master of artillery under François 1st, wanted a château worthy of his rank and a church celebrating his glory. The 15th-century château, listed as a Monument Historique, proudly overlooks the town and stands tall in the center of the village. Its imposing keep bears witness to Lacapelle-Marival’s prestigious past as a strategic crossroads in the region. Saint-Cirq-Lapopie

From Cajarc, take the bus to Saint-Cirq-Lapopie or Cahors. Overlooking the river, in the Lot valley , the medieval village of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie and its spectacular cliffs will dazzle you. Like a living vestige of the Middle Ages, this “Plus beau(x) village de France”, part of which is a listed historic monument, can be visited on foot, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in its grandeur. The same liO bus then takes you to Cahors, historic capital of the Quercy region and an essential stopover on the route to Santiago de Compostela. Cahors is also famous for its prestigious vineyards, its long history spanning over two thousand years, and its exceptional heritage, including the emblematic Pont Valentré.
