Markets are a tradition here! Warm, varied and colourful, Grand-Figeac’s weekly fairs and markets bring life to the heart of our towns and villages. They’re great places to meet and share ideas, and they showcase local produce, crafts and expertise.

At the heart of tradition

Figeac market

Every Saturday morning, Figeac wakes up to a colourful market! A veritable institution, it’s the place to be for lovers of fine Lot produce. Smelly, lively and generous, the market immerses you in the typical local atmosphere of the south-west! In the market hall, Place Carnot, Place Vival and Place Champollion, stalls with colourful umbrellas reveal exceptional products. Stroll past the producers’ stalls and the tempting smells: cabécous, goat’s and sheep’s cheeses, Rocamadour PDO, freshly-picked seasonal fruit and vegetables, mushrooms (ceps, girolles), Quercy melons, free-range lamb, traditional charcuterie, farçous, walnuts, Quercy saffron, fouace, pastis, pompe à huile, Cahors wines…

In summer, a piece of history comes to life. Mathieu Mazeuric, the market crier, announces the week’s events and shares historical anecdotes with a personal touch. At the end of the morning, with well-stocked baskets, everyone meets up for a drink or a coffee in the Place Champollion. The terraces are full of life!

In the vicinity

Weekly markets

In Greater Figeac, the market is much more than just a meeting place: it’s a way of life, a time to look forward to every week. In Assier, Bagnac-sur-Célé, Cajarc, Capdenac-Gare, Lacapelle-Marival, Latronquière and many other villages, traditional markets bring people of all ages together, generation after generation. Under the covered market or in the open air, the market is the ideal place to meet up, chat, laugh and, above all, share a passion for good food. You can meet local producers, craftspeople and fairground stallholders, and take your time wandering between the colourful stalls. It’s hard to resist the smell of farmhouse cheese, freshly picked vegetables or sun-kissed fruit… Here, every product has its own flavour and tells its own story: the story of an authentic and generous land.
